Sam Langford
The greatest fighter never granted a title shot, the Boston Tar Baby
Overview
Born in Weymouth Falls, Nova Scotia, Langford stood about 5 feet 7 yet knocked out heavyweights and beat the best men from lightweight up. He fought Jack Johnson in 1906 when both were rising and was denied a championship match during the color line era. Nat Fleischer and many old timers ranked him among the very best who ever lived, pound for pound.
