Gene Tunney
Beat Jack Dempsey twice and retired undefeated champion with one career loss
Overview
The Fighting Marine was the thinking boxer of his age, a skilled boxer who studied his rivals like a scholar. He outboxed Dempsey over ten rounds in Philadelphia in 1926 to win the heavyweight title, then survived the famous Long Count knockdown in Chicago in 1927 to keep it. His only defeat in some 80 fights came against Harry Greb, whom he also beat several times.
