Robinson vs LaMotta VI
The St Valentine Day Massacre, Robinson won the middleweight title in 13
Overview
In Chicago on February 14 1951, Sugar Ray Robinson finally took the middleweight crown from Jake LaMotta in their sixth meeting. He hammered the Raging Bull around the ring for 13 rounds, the ropes holding LaMotta up, until the referee stepped in. Famously, LaMotta never went down. It was the last of one of boxing great rivalries, six wars across nine years.
