The Raging Bull, middleweight champion who beat Robinson once in six wars
Overview
LaMotta fought Sugar Ray Robinson six times, winning a close decision over Robinson in Detroit in 1943, one of the few men ever to beat him. He took the middleweight title from Marcel Cerdan in 1949 in Detroit and lost it to Robinson in the 1951 St Valentine Day Massacre, absorbing punishment without ever being knocked off his feet. His life story became the film Raging Bull.
