Patterson became the first to regain the heavyweight title, March 1961
Overview
After Ingemar Johansson knocked him out in 1959 and Patterson returned the favor in 1960, the rubber match in Miami Beach settled it. Patterson climbed off the floor in round one and knocked Johansson out in the sixth with a left hook, becoming the first man ever to regain the world heavyweight championship. Johansson lay flat for minutes, the image of the era.
