Leonard vs Hagler
Leonard returned from near three years out to outpoint Hagler, April 6 1987
Overview
Sugar Ray Leonard had fought once in five years, coming off retina surgery, and moved up to challenge the middleweight king Marvin Hagler, unbeaten in 11 years. Leonard stole early rounds with flurries and hung on in a classic to win a split decision at Caesars Palace. Hagler felt robbed and never fought again.
