Roberto Duran
Manos de Piedra, four division champion and lightweight king 1972 to 1979
Overview
Raised in the slums of El Chorrillo, Duran won the lightweight title at 21 in 1972 and defended it 12 times, mostly by knockout, with frightening power and ring cunning. He beat Sugar Ray Leonard in Montreal in 1980, then quit in the No Mas rematch. He later won titles at 154 and 160, winning a middleweight belt at 37. He fought five decades, 103 wins.
