Jersey Joe Walcott
Won the heavyweight title at 37 with a single left hook in 1951
Overview
Walcott fought through years of poverty and losses before finally getting his chances late in his career. After defeats to Joe Louis and Ezzard Charles in title fights, he knocked out Charles with a left hook in the seventh round in Pittsburgh in 1951 to become the oldest heavyweight champion of his day. Rocky Marciano took the belt from him in 1952 with a famous thirteenth round knockout.
