Overview
Jofre won the world bantamweight championship in 1960 and unified recognition in 1962, dominating the division with heavy punching from both hands. His only professional defeats came against Fighting Harada of Japan in 1965 and 1966. After a long layoff he returned to win the WBC featherweight title in 1973, and he is widely regarded as the greatest boxer Brazil has produced.
