Brawl in Montreal
Duran beat Leonard in their first war, June 20 1980
Overview
Welterweight champion Sugar Ray Leonard boxed to order against Roberto Duran, who goaded him into a fight instead. Before 46,000 at Olympic Stadium, Duran pressured, roughed and outpunched Leonard over 15 rounds to win a unanimous decision and hand him his first defeat. Montreal gave the era its first classic, and Leonard plotted revenge.
