Thrilla in Manila
Ali and Frazier emptied themselves in 14 rounds of heat, October 1 1975
Overview
In morning heat at the Araneta Coliseum, Muhammad Ali called it the closest thing to dying. Ali punished Joe Frazier early, Frazier surged in the middle rounds, and Ali took over late as Frazier eyes closed to slits. Trainer Eddie Futch would not let Frazier answer the 15th bell. Ali won by technical knockout, and both men were never quite the same again.
