Gatti vs Ward I
Blood, knockdowns and round nine, May 18 2002 in Uncasville
Overview
Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward, two honest pros, made a trilogy of pure war. In the first fight Ward was hurt badly in round five, dropped Gatti in round nine with a liver shot that is replayed to this day, and took a majority decision. All three fights were fight of the year candidates, round nine an instant legend.
