Canelo vs Golovkin I
The controversial 2017 draw that launched a trilogy
Overview
Gennady Golovkin stalked, Canelo Alvarez countered, and for 12 rounds at T-Mobile Arena in September 2017 they made a middleweight classic. Most observers favored Golovkin, but judge Adalaide Byrd scored it 118-110 for Canelo and the fight ended a split draw. Two rematch classics followed, Canelo edging both, a trilogy for the ages.
