Bob Fitzsimmons
Ruby Robert, the first three division world champion, from middleweight to heavyweight
Overview
A blacksmith from Helston in Cornwall who grew up in New Zealand and boxed out of Australia, Fitzsimmons knocked out Corbett with his famous solar plexus blow in 1897 to win the heavyweight crown at barely 170 pounds. He had already taken the middleweight title and later won light heavyweight gold, making him the first man to claim world championships in three weight classes.
