The Four Kings of the 1980s, Explained

Between 1980 and 1989, four men ruled boxing above all others: Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns and Roberto Duran. They fought each other nine times in varying combinations, producing Brawl in Montreal, No Mas, Leonard against Hearns, the Hagler Hearns War and Leonard against Hagler.

Each brought a style: Leonard the boxer showman, Hagler the southpaw pressure fighter, Hearns the tall puncher, Duran the ferocious technician. Their round robin remains the richest rivalry cluster in boxing history..
